Life isn’t easy for a group of high school kids growing up absurd in Japan’s pervasive pop/cyber culture. As they negotiate teen badlands- school bullies, parents from another planet, lurid snapshots of sex and death- these everyday rebels without a cause seek sanctuary, even salvation, through pop star savior Lily Chou-Chou, embracing her sad, dreamy songs and sharing their fears and secrets in Lilyholic chat rooms. Immersed in the speed of everyday troubles, their lives inevitably climax in a fatal collision between real and virtual identities, a final logging-off from innocence.

One of the best japanese movies ever. I recommend it to everyone. Really. It’s one of those movies you don’t watch just onde, you can watch twice+!

This one was one of my first Japanese films.
All About Lily Chou-Chou spoiled everything that came after. I hate the film for doing that to me, because I haven’t found another film since then that took me that far away. I love this film.

I can’t remember all the plot of this movie, but I still have some feelings left from this movie.. Yes, i think that this movie won’t give you a story, but the feeling.. And that green field with a soft music around is something unforgettable
P.s. I don’t think that whose who love fast pace movies will find it something special, but who knows..^^

Based on the high reviews, I was going to watch this film, but after viewing the above trailer, I won’t. That is the dullest trailer imaginable. One boy standing in a rice field, listening through his earphones to some “music” that’s going nowhere. Even if he was naked, this would be boring.

Well, your choice. It doesn’t always have to be high-kick through the roof, you know…

i agree. A cult classic. Superb visuals and finessely warped storyline.
True cinema at its best.

I keep forgetting that it’s already 10 years old… This film is so good, it’s painful. Or was it the other way around? A Must, in any case.

Dare I say a classic in modern Japanese cinema?
